Bargaining: Stages of grief and diagnosis of prediabetes or diabetes.

I often joke about the stages of grief applying to receiving the diagnosis of pre-diabetes 9 (and diabetes). There is denial, anger, bargaining and acceptance. The biggest barrier clients struggle with is bargaining. “If I exercise enough, I don’t have to worry about what I eat.” Or if I eat clean enough, I don’t have to prioritize time for exercise.” And my personal favorite (literally, my strategy for a long time) “If I take supplements that help manage blood sugar, I can be relaxed on both food and exercise. Lol! None of those strategies work well. It is the combination of 30 minutes a day of moderate exercise, eating in moderation, and adding in supplements only after the other habits are dialed in. Think of supplements like icing on the cake. You must bake the cake first (exercise and diet). Then you can get fancy with the icing (aka: supplements).

This is your invitation to lean into the parts of the journey you are avoiding. That is where the magic and results lie.
