Vrksasana: Tree Pose Variations and Modifications

We have all been in that yoga class where the teacher gives the instructions to stand on one leg while pressing the other foot into the side of the standing leg.

The teacher always looks so graceful while the students often wobble around looking like a flock of drunk flamingos. In this video, I show you how to simplify the pose so you can practice daily and slowly advance to the full pose with confidence.

Weak feet, calves, hamstrings and glutes play a big role in assisting us in staying balanced on one foot. If balance remains a struggle after consistently practicing, you may want to look into a targeted strength building program for your legs.
