Massage for Stress Management and Chronic Pain

Massage therapy can be a great way to manage chronic pain and stress.

Over the years, I have heard more than one person with fibromyalgia or other muscular discomfort tell me that they tried massage, but the therapist they scheduled with used too much pressure and it caused them to be sore or go into a painful flare. If this is you and you would like to try massage with a gentler approach, let’s talk. Many of my clients are just like you and are now enjoying massage therapy on a regular basis and reaping all the benefits that come with incorporating massage into their wellness routine.

If you are one of those that like a little more pressure, I utilize hot stones, cupping and the Graston Technique to get you the relief you need. (If you like bone crushing pressure, I am not the therapist for you.)

Stress can have so many negative effects on our health, from reducing our immune system’s ability to fight off cooties to increasing blood pressure and contributing to anxiety symptoms. Being proactive by scheduling a regular massage has proven to reduce the negative consequences of stress. Here is a great article by Psychology Today on benefits of massage for stress management.

Massages are available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. To book your initial appointment, call or text Heidi Gill, LMT at 225-772-8582.
